A Sociopsychological Explanation

چکیده

Intergroup confl icts are an inherent part of human relations, having on a large scale taken place continuously and constantly throughout all millennia of history. Of these, intractable intergroup confl icts, 1 which still rage in various parts of the globe—in Sri Lanka, Kashmir, Chechnya, or the Middle East—are of special interest. Confl icts in this category stem from disagreements over contradictory goals and interests in different domains such as territories, natural resources, economic wealth, self-determination, and/or basic values, and these real issues must be addressed in confl ict resolution processes. Nonetheless, it is assumed that these disagreements could potentially be resolved if not for the powerful sociopsychological barriers which fuel and maintain the confl icts (Arrow et al. 1995 ; Bar-Siman-Tov 1995 , 2010 ; Bar-Tal and Halperin 2011 ; Ross and Ward 1995 ).

On the Modelling of Complex Sociopsychological Systems with Some Reasoning Aboutkate, Jules, and Jim

This paper deals with the modelling of complex sociopsychological games and reciprocal feelings involving interacting individuals. The modelling is based on suitable developments of the methods of mathematical kinetic theory of active particles with special attention to modelling multiple interactions. A first approach to complexity analysis is proposed referring to both computational and model...

The Psycho-Social Processes Linking Income and Volunteering: Chronic Financial Strain and Well-Being

The positive effect of income on volunteering found in many studies is conventionally explained in utilitarian terms: volunteer work is “costly” or demands “resources.” This explanation overlooks important sociopsychological processes. By situating the income-volunteering relationship within the stress process framework, we develop a theory that traces the influence of income on chronic financi...

Evaluating the importance of policy amenable factors in explaining influenza vaccination: a cross-sectional multinational study

OBJECTIVES Despite continuous efforts to improve influenza vaccination coverage, uptake among high-risk groups remains suboptimal. We aimed to identify policy amenable factors associated with vaccination and to measure their importance in order to assist in the monitoring of vaccination sentiment and the design of communication strategies and interventions to improve vaccination rates. SETTIN...

Sociopsychological trust model for Wireless Sensor Networks

Trust plays a crucial role in establishing and retaining relationships. Sociopsychological analysis identifies three major constructs, such as ability, benevolence and integrity, uponwhich trust is being built up. On a similar note, in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), it is indispensable to have trust among nodes since nodes collectively sense physical parameters and send them to the base stati...

Automated Inference on Sociopsychological Impressions of Attractive Female Faces

This article is a sequel to our earlier work [24]. The main objective of our research is to explore the potential of supervised machine learning in face-induced social computing and cognition, riding on the momentum of much heralded successes of face processing, analysis and recognition on the tasks of biometric-based identification. We present a case study of automated statistical inference on...
